In 2021, the Government of Punjab enacted legislation to incorporate the translation of the Holy Qur’an into the secondary school curriculum. As part of this initiative, a compulsory subject titled “Tarjuman-ul-Qur’an” was introduced. The course covers the etiquettes of Qur’anic recitation, rules of punctuation, and the Urdu translation of eighteen selected Surahs.

These Surahs have been carefully selected to ensure that, through their study along with meanings, students develop a deep affection for and a meaningful connection with the Holy Qur’an. This engagement is intended to promote moral refinement and character building. During instruction, particular emphasis is placed on two key aspects: first, accurate pronunciation during the recitation of the Arabic text; and second, repeated and parallel reading of the Urdu translation alongside the Arabic text, enabling students to develop a deeper and more effective understanding of Qur’anic teachings.
